Victoria, Retail Planner, International Women's Day 2025 Part 4

Victoria Carr, CADS' Project Leader in Retail Planning

Victoria’s journey with CADS’ Retail Planning team began nearly 20 years ago in 2007 when she joined as a CAD Operator. After gaining experience in the role and demonstrating a keen eye for detail, she became a Workstream Leader in 2011. Her leadership skills and expertise developed further, resulting in her appointment as Store Planning Leader in 2015.

After taking time off for maternity leave, Victoria returned to CADS in a part-time role, bringing her wealth of experience to the team as a Project Leader. Her dedication and deep understanding of retail planning continue to have a valuable impact on the team’s performance.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

On International Women’s Day we celebrate women’s achievements and equality.

Why did you choose to work in the tech industry?

After finishing college I knew I wanted to do something in the design/planning industry but wasn’t sure how to get into it. I sent my CV over to CADS who are a local company to me and I was lucky to get an interview. I have been here ever since!

How does CADS support your training and career choice?

CADS has offered me a variety of training days during my time with the company which have has me in my role. I’ve been supported since having children and now part time. I have also been able to keep the same role I was previously working in, while working part time. This allows me to continue to progress in my career rather than feel like I’m standing still or going backwards.

CADS' Careers

In your opinion, why is it important that more women become involved in the technology industry?

It helps to create more role models for young women.

What do you think is the biggest issue facing women in your industry?

I think in any industry, women who want to have a family could have a negative impact on their career progression due to parenthood. They may be restricted with the hours they can work and therefore be restricted on the work they can achieve. However, CADs supports its employees with flexible working options.

Do you have any advice to give to women considering working in your industry?

Go for it! Work hard and you never know where it could lead.
